What is Burlesque?

Burlesque is about glamour, burlesque is about comedy, but most of all, burlesque is about tease.

Burlesque comes in many styles- expect chair routines, vintage bumps and grinds, cheeky cheesecake routines, glove peeling, hip bumping, bum slapping, stocking losing and plenty of giggles on the way.

Skytribe Studio runs six week beginner courses which include tuition on pin-up poses and walks, how to seductively peel off gloves and stockings, the use of props and some fun routines as well. After completion of the beginner course there will be the opportunity to join the Chicas Locas Burlesque Academy class where there are regular performance opportunities at our Student showcases. If you have some experience of burlesque you may prefer to skip the beginner course and come straight to the Academy classes- contact us to discuss.

All ages, shapes/sizes and fitness levels welcome.

What to wear?

Wear clothes which you can move in- leggings and vest are ideal.

Heels are a must (unless you have a medical condition to prevent you wearing them- in which case we make the exception!). Please wear heels which you feel comfortable in and preferably which you can slip off easily without undoing any buckles.

For week two of the course you will need to bring a pair of opera style gloves and hold-up stockings- but this will be discussed on week one.
